Babe Ruth Baseball | 13-18yr Old Divisions

Babe Ruth Baseball League offers a structured and competitive environment for High School players to continue their development in the sport. The program for players aged 13 to 18 is robust, featuring distinct divisions, a regular season that complements the high school baseball schedule, and a comprehensive tournament trail that culminates in state, regional, and even national competitions. Babe Ruth Baseball has two divisions in NC:

  • Babe Ruth 13-16 Division: This division serves as a transitional platform for players moving onto standard 90-foot base paths. It allows players to compete against their peers in a similar age range. Eligibility for the upcoming season requires a player to be 13-16 by April 30 of the upcoming year.
  • Babe Ruth 16-18 Division: Geared towards high school-aged players, this division offers a higher level of competition. Eligibility for the upcoming season requires a player to be 16-18 by April 30 of the upcoming year.

Waxhaw Baseball Babe Ruth is a member of Union County Babe Ruth, which is a member of the Western North Carolina (WNC) Division of the Southeast Region of the Babe Ruth League.

Waxhaw Baseball & UCBR organize teams into 14U, 16U, and 18U divisions.

Season & Gameplay

The Babe Ruth season is strategically timed to accommodate players who also participate in their high school baseball programs. The regular season typically commences in late spring, after the conclusion of the school baseball season, and runs through the early summer. This scheduling allows players to stay active and continue playing at a competitive level throughout the summer months. Games are played on regulation-sized fields with standard baseball rules. Regional & Local Rules will apply.

Babe Ruth | 14U Division

Ages: 13-14 year-old players. This division serves as a transition to the standard 90-foot diamond.

Regular Season: The spring season is the main season and is designed to start after the middle school baseball season concludes, generally running from May through June. This allows players to participate in both. The season consists of a schedule of games against other Union County area teams. Waxhaw 14U teams will play against teams from Parkwood, Piedmont, and other chartered Babe Ruth leagues in the area.

Rules: Games are played under the official Babe Ruth Baseball rules, which closely mirror standard baseball regulations. This includes leading off and pitching from a 60-foot, 6-inch mound.

Babe Ruth | 16U Division

Ages: 15-16 year-old players. This division is highly popular with high school players.

Season: The season is also timed to accommodate high school junior varsity and varsity players, typically beginning in late spring/early summer.

Competition: The level of competition increases in this division, with a continued focus on player development and showcasing talent.

Babe Ruth | 18U Division

Ages: The highest level of Babe Ruth baseball, for players aged 16-18.

Season: This division provides a platform for experienced high school players, including rising seniors and recent graduates, to continue playing competitive baseball during the summer. The season aligns with the conclusion of the high school season.

The 18U Division is the highest and most accomplished level in Babe Ruth Baseball. A favorite among high school players and coaches, this division prepares players for collegiate recruiting and the professional draft. This allows players a chance to compete through a tournament trail to reach the 16-18 Year-Old World Series.
