Coach Certification | Background Check & SafeSport Abuse Prevention Training

Coaches, we appreciate the time and effort that you give to our players and to Waxhaw Baseball. You are all the backbone of our organization.

  • All WAA Baseball Coaches (T-Ball through Babe Ruth) are required to have Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken Certification every two (2) years as well as complete the One Time, mandatory, abuse prevention training.
  • Certification must be done every 2 years, while Abuse Prevention is a one-time training.
  • Check your Status: https://my.sportngin.com/user/memberships
  • A special Coaching Clinic will be held before each Spring Season to advance new ideas and training methods.

We thank our dedicated coaches for always looking for new ways to better the experience for our players. Great Job Coaches!!

Thanks again for all you do for our kids!  It's a tremendous honor ... to be called 'Coach'.

WAA Coach & Volunteer Application

Do you have interest in Coaching Waxhaw Baseball? Our Baseball Coach Registration is no longer part of the player registration. WAA instituted a single COACH & VOLUNTEER APPLICATION that will serve as the only registration for coaches with WAA moving forward.

The 2025 WAA Coach and Volunteer Application incorporates your application to be a coach within Waxhaw Athletic Association for ALL Sports and allows you to complete your mandatory yearly Background Check and SafeSport Abuse Training or Refresher Course.

Final Thoughts...

Coaches should teach the players the fundamentals of baseball through interactive instruction. The instruction will be geared to the skills needed to play the game at a high level. The instruction will also be based on the 'games approach' (i.e., introduce tactical game situations during practice).

  • Develop the skills of all players through traditional baseball drills including throwing, fielding, hitting, and base running.
  • In order to accomplish this goal, the children must attend team practices and league skills clinics.
  • Teach the children to work well with others, be respectful to their coaches/umpires/opponents, be good teammates, build friendships, develop mental toughness, and most importantly... have fun and enjoy playing the game of baseball!

Parents, as a member of the team, players have a responsibility to the other team players to be at practices and games. If a player is unable to attend a practice or game, they should call, text, or email their coach at their earliest convenience (24 hrs notice preferred).
