Good afternoon Waxhaw Families!!
As I sit enjoying some indoor volleyball in the A/C I wanted to announce the winner of the 4th of July Parade participation contest.
Before I do that, I wanted to let everyone know how much FUN the parade was. Here are a few highlights that are certainly worth mentioning:
- CANDY - we handed out a TON of candy to spectators but only AFTER we had several of the float riders sample the selection before we set sail through the streets of Waxhaw. Yum!!
- CONVERSATION - the commissioners, parents and kids had a great opportunity to talk about their sports, and I had a great chance to speak with many of the commissioners & parents that I don't get to talk to because we are always running around from field to field and gym to gym.
- WATER BATTLE - although we weren't expecting to be ambushed by about 4-5 young adults along the path of the parade, we quickly took out the water balloons that we were handing out and took on our attackers. Apparently this small group has a reputation for attacking one group each year and they decided to take on WAA. Well....they met their match with us. After the parade their mother found me on Facebook and we've become friends. I think it was because I laid down the challenge for them to meet us at Nesbit for "round 2" after the parade.
AND NOW THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR........THE WINNER OF THE 4th of July Parade participation contest is......
GIRLS SOFTBALL
(who tied with soccer, but the rules are that the "CHAMP" must be BEAT and not TIED)
Congrats to these ladies for coming out and to their commissioner BRIAN COGAN for walking along side his group.
Have a great rest of your Sunday afternoon!!
