It's no big deal. Just 45 years. FORTY FIVE YEARS in 2025! Honestly, it's amazing to say that. Many have come and gone, but we have been here serving Waxhaw kids through various versions of WAA for the past 45 years. We've had multiple generations of families come through our programs and look forward to many more. What started as individual sports like Waxhaw Baseball and the Soccer Council of Waxhaw (now Waxhaw Soccer Club), transformed into Waxhaw Athletic Association, providing youth sports for the greater Waxhaw Area. Currently WAA offers 7 youth sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cheer, Flag Football, Girls Softball, Soccer, and Volleyball. We look forward to celebrating this year with you all.
Through all of the years, we have partnered with the Town of Waxhaw and Parks & Rec to provide youth sports options within the town. This continues into 2025 as WAA continues to offer Baseball and Soccer at H.C. Nesbit Park, as well as baseball, basketball, flag football, softball, soccer, and volleyball at locations in and around Waxhaw. WAA and Parks & Rec partner on many events including our downtown parades and other events in park. We are look forward to continuing our partnership for years to come.
One way to find out more of what is offered here in Waxhaw is to Subscribe to get your digital version of Waxhaw Happenings. Print versions are also available throughout the town. You'll see a familiar logo on Page 20 of the January-June 2025 edition.
Waxhaw residents indicated strong interest in regular programming from the Town. In response, the department is creating youth programs, teen nights and activities, adult programs and trips, senior fitness classes and social hours. We proudly introduced our HERO, Health Exercise Recreation and Outreach, program to provide fun activities for families during the pandemic. With the success of HERO, we have continued the program and have added new locations to reach more citizens in Waxhaw.
On our quest to champion quality of life initiatives that unmistakably reflect the unique character of Waxhaw, the department will proudly partner with local and regional organizations such as the Carolina Thread Trail, Waxhaw Athletic Association, local business owners and more to provide these new programs. To register for any of our programs, create an online account at waxhaw.recdesk.com. Once you have created an account, you can add multiple family members to your profile, register and pay online for programs."
