Dear Waxhaw Soccer Club Members,
As our 2024-2025 soccer season comes to a close, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for making this past year a memorable and successful one for all our Academy, Classic, Recreational, and Micro/EDP players. Your dedication, sportsmanship, and passion for this great game truly shone through, both on and off the field.
To our players, thank you for your hard work, commitment, and for bringing so much energy to every practice and game. It has been a joy to watch you grow, develop your skills, and most importantly, have fun with your teammates.
To our coaches, team managers, and countless volunteers, your tireless efforts are the backbone of the Club. We are incredibly grateful for the time and energy you invest in nurturing our young athletes and fostering a positive environment.
I'd like to give a special shout-out to our Recreational Director, Ben Ashby. Ben, your leadership and dedication throughout the season have been outstanding. The success and smooth operation of our Recreational program are a testament to your hard work, and we deeply appreciate everything you do for the Club and our community. You’ve already left an indelible mark on the program and we look forward to what you have in store for next season.
A big thank you also goes to our Micro/EDP Director, Don Reda, for another fantastic season. Don's commitment to our youngest players ensures they have a wonderful introduction to soccer, building a strong foundation for their future in the sport.
Furthermore, we extend our sincere gratitude to Director of Coaching, Jeff Mercado and our Director of Youth Academy, Erik Imler. Your leadership and dedication were instrumental in the successful season for our Academy and Classic teams, and we truly appreciate your efforts in developing our players at these competitive levels.
Some Highlights from this Spring Season:
Coach Erik and our entire staff of Youth Academy Coaches, thank you for another amazing Youth Academy effort at the Coast Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach. Parents, thank you for all the behind the scenes work you volunteered to help with throughout the year! Your volunteering to step in and help was amazing and we really loved that Hot Cocoa fundraiser this past winter.
Coach Nate Mangione led our 13U Girls Classic team to the USYS National stage this Spring! We are extremely excited to follow the now 14U Girls NPL team efforts this coming full year of USYS National League Team competition. This is a major feat for the Club and the team! Amazing!
For the first time ever, over 400 boys & girls participated in Club Soccer tryouts for positions in U7-U10 Youth Academy, 11U-18U Classic, and the 14U Girls National team.
Congratulations to all thirteen REC U8-U16 teams who competed in the Queen City Classic Tournament last weekend. A huge shoutout to our Champions: U8 Girls (Lynch & Tyson) and U11/12 Boys (Kraemer)! We’re incredibly proud of every player who represented the Club with heart, effort, and sportsmanship on and off the field.
Looking ahead, we're excited that our Summer Camps registration is officially open! Coach Jeff Mercado continues to host our Summer Soccer Series Camps (All Skills, Micro/EDP, and Elite Classic) this summer. These camps are great for players of all ages and skill levels. Our Elite Classic Camp in July is specifically geared to our Classic Div. I, II, and III players. And our U8-U10 Youth Academy Camps with Coach Erik. New & Returning U8-U10 Academy player families, this is a great way to kick off the training for the upcoming season. Our camps are a fantastic opportunity for players of all ages and skill levels to continue improving their game in a fun and engaging environment. Spaces fill up quickly, so be sure to register soon. First Camps start June 16th!
Who’s Ready for Fall? Shhhh, we know… last day of school today. It’s also the best time to register for our REC U8-U16 Fall 2025 Season because we are offering an Early Registration Discount until June 19th! We will also open our MICRO U4-U5 & EDP U6-U7 Registration in the coming weeks. Be on the lookout for that update soon! We encourage you to sign up early to secure your spot and help us plan for another successful year of soccer.
