WANT TO BE A WAXHAW basketBALL COACH?
Do you have interest in Coaching Waxhaw Basketball? Our Basketball Coach Registration is no longer part of the player registration. WAA instituted a single COACH & VOLUNTEER APPLICATION that will serve as the only registration for coaches with WAA moving forward.
The all new WAA Coach and Volunteer Application incorporates your application to be a coach within Waxhaw Athletic Association for ALL Sports, but also allows you to complete your mandatory yearly Background Check and SafeSport Abuse Training (or refresher course).
ALL persons who plan to be coaches, managers or volunteers with access to players must complete the application, background check and training.

Commissioner Update - August 2023
Hello WAA Families,
My name is Ben Kallenbach and I will be serving as the Basketball Commissioner for the 2023-24 season. I hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer and getting for a great year back at school. We just completed our first season of Summer Basketball and have another season of Winter Basketball approaching shortly! I wanted to introduce myself and to thank the last two Basketball Commissioners (Todd Dinchak & John Brundage) as well as their families for the sacrifice they made in making WAA Basketball the success it has been over the last several years. They have done their part in creating a successful and growing program, they are still here for me to take advice from and I hope to continue to build on what they, and all the other people involved before them, have created.
MY BACKGROUND
My family moved to Waxhaw in 2014 after living overseas for multiple years. After growing up in the midwest and playing sports from preschool through college I began a career in the hospitality industry. This took me to the South, then the Middle East and then the Caribbean, before settling in Waxhaw. My wife and I own and operate a small business in downtown, we live downtown and all three of our kids have been through multiple seasons and sports with WAA. We believe in giving back to our community and I believe in the positive growth youth sports can provide, so this is my way to give back to the community we call home.
LEADERSHIP NEEDED
We have looked at creating a more permanent committee for basketball as the sport continues to grow and evolve and I, along with a couple other key partners, are going to decide on those rolls in the very near future. Please email basketball@wxwathletics.org if you would like to hear more about the roles we are looking to fill and begin the SUBJECT LINE with BASKETBALL COMMITTEE INTEREST - <your name>. Any level of involvement is appreciated, and we are looking for moms, dads, grandparents, or anyone else that would like to help contribute to our organization. There are multiple roles that we are looking to fill including commissioners, facility managers, event staff, coach liaison, ref liaison, etc. that we are currently in the process of defining.
ADMIN “STUFF”
Questions that are submitted will ALL be answered as promptly as possible. Please be patient as we have had hundreds of participants in the past and since this is a volunteer position and there is just one of me (currently) I will try to stick to my 24-hour response rule. I am sure there will be a flood of questions at first so I may need 25-hours to reply.
