seasonal Registration Fees
2024/2025 Seasonal Fees: $255.00 (plus 3.25% + $1.00 processing fee)
- Referee & Tournament Fees Collected Separately
- Includes Waxhaw Soccer Team White/Blue Jersey, Light Blue Shorts, and Light Blue Socks
- REC will be scheduled to play eight(8) games (weather permitting)
- Game Schedules to be available the first weeks of the season
- Schedules are provided by UCYS. Once released they are not adjusted due to the complexity of the league.
- REC U8-U16 games are scheduled on Saturday's and Sunday's. Game week is Sunday to Saturday, which means that a team may play a Saturday game for one week and play a Sunday game the next day for the start of the next week.
Seasonal FEE BREAKDOWN
- Sport & Facilities Fee: $220
- Uniform Fee: $35
- Referee Fees are no longer included with the registration
- Uniforms will be purchased in bulk once per year starting with the Fall Season. The Re-Use of a Fall uniform for Spring Season will result in a $15 Spring Registration Discount.
- Sports Fee covers the cost of doing business for WXW Soccer Club including, but not limited to: year round field maintenance of three(3) facilities, field painting at three(3) facilities, electricity, portable restroom rentals, goals/goal repairs, UCYS Dues & Scheduling, UCYS FALL Tournament Fees, sport administration costs, tower light rentals, and other fixed & variable expenses.
Player Equipment
- Each player will be required to wear shin guards and bring an age appropriate soccer ball to each practice and games.
- REC U8-U12 Ball: Size 4
- REC U13-U16 Ball: Size 5
- Cleats must be soccer specific, no baseball or football cleats.
TRAINING INFO & TIMES
- REC teams have two(2) one-hour training sessions per week at Western Union Elementary or New Town Elementary.
- New Town Elementary: 6:00pm-7:00pm or 7:00pm-8:00pm
- Western Union Elementary: 6:30pm-7:30pm or 7:30pm-8:30pm
TRAINING DAYS
- Training will begin the week of August 26th through to November 2nd.
- There will be two options to register for Fall 2024.
- Monday & Wednesday only or Tuesday & Thursday only.

Referee Fees
The Club no longer includes Referee Fees as part of registration due to "Cash on Field" requirement.
- All referees are be paid at the field prior to the match via “cash on field” payment. Each team pays one(1) Referee for the game.
- The Club has implemented a volunteer Team Manager for direct (peer-to-peer) collection & payment of Referee Fees. This is the exact same system all WXW Soccer Club competitive teams utilize.
SEASONAL Referee Fees
- U8 = $20.00/Game ($160.00 for season per team)
- U9-U12 = $35.00/Game ($280.00 for season per team)
- U13+ = $40.00/Game ($320.00 for season per team)
Final team size dictates the final Fee per Player the Team Managers will collect from player families. We've approximated the fees per player below:
- U8 = 10 Players per team would be ~$16 Ref Fee per Player
- U9-U12 = 12 Players per team would be ~ $24 Ref Fee per Player
- U13+ = 12 Players per team would be ~ $27 Ref Fee per Player
Tournament FEES
Fall UCYS Tournament is mandatory and the registration fee is included with the Club's UCYS Dues
- All REC U8-U16 are required to play in the Fall Tournament which is played the first weekend of November.
- Referee Fees are not included with Seasonal Registration. As with in-season Referee Fees, the Team Manager will be responsible for the collection of FALL Tournament Referee Fees.
Spring WCWAA Queen City Classic is an optional, team paid, tournament.
- All teams are invited to play, but are not required to play by WXW Soccer Club or UCYS.
- Families of players on the team pay the registration fees as this tournament is optional and not included with registration fees or league dues.
- Referee Fees are included with SPRING Tournament Registration only.
Uniforms
Starting with the Fall 2024 Season, due to the costs and logistics associated with uniform purchases each season, the decision has been made by the Board of Directors to allow players who return for the Spring season to re-use the FULL uniform from the Fall season.
- Uniform is defined as WXW Soccer Club provided White/Blue Jersey, Light Blue Shorts, Light Blue Socks
- Spring Registration Only: Players who played in the Fall, and are able to re-use their FULL uniform, will be able to claim a $15 discount on the Spring registration for the reuse of the uniform.
- If a uniform is lost or unable to be re-used, or is missing any part of the uniform (shirt, shorts, or socks) the registration will be at the full rate.
- If a player is already registered, but is unable to use the FULL uniform from the prior season as planned, the cost for a new uniform will be invoiced to the family.
- If a player is new to the club for Spring registration, the uniform cost will be included in the registration fee and uniform ordered.

U8 Boys & Girls - Up to 4 Teams
- 7v7 - 6 field players + a goalie | size 3 soccer ball | 10 players to a team max
U9 Boys & Girls - Up to 4 Teams
- 8v8 - 7 field players + a goalie | size 4 soccer ball | 12 players to a team max
U10 Boys & Girls - Up to 4 Teams
- 8v8 - 7 field players + a goalie | size 4 soccer ball | 12 players to a team max
U11/12 Boys & Girls - Up to 4 Teams
- 8v8 - 7 field players + a goalie | size 4 soccer ball | 12 players to a team max
U13/14 Boys & Girls - Up to 4 Teams
- 8v8 - 7 field players + a goalie | size 5 soccer ball | 12 players to a team max
U15/16 COED - Up to 2 Teams
- 8v8 - 7 field players + a goalie | size 5 soccer ball | 12 players to a team max
Anyone who plays on a full or half-year Academy or Classic travel team, and therefore has been carded by NCYSA for any duration of the school year, is not eligible to play on a Union County Youth Soccer REC Team.
REC U8-U16 PARENT VOLUNTEER HEAD COACHES
ALL Parents are asked to volunteer to coach via the seasonal registration. This is a must to form teams. There will be a formal WAA Coach & Volunteer Application to be completed after completing this registration for your player.
ALL Returning or previously identified REC U8-U16 Volunteer Head Coaches who volunteer for this season, will receive their players specific day & a time slot for training.
Parent Volunteer Head Coaches will receive the following incentives for coaching:
- Ability to choose their training day and time for training of available open training slots per age group.
- Ability to set up a carpool/convenience with parents on the team ahead of scheduling.
- Coaches Game Polo Uniform Shirt & Training Shirt
- Option to request a postseason refund equal to 50% of registration fee of one(1) registration. All requests must be received within 30 days of the end of season.
- All REC Coaches will have a registered volunteer Team Manager to assist with Referee Fees, and managing all non-game related needs as request... Uniform Coordination, Tents, Snacks, Drinks, Tournament Fees (where applicable), or anything else the coach may find necessary.
- All volunteer coaches must complete the WAA Coach & Volunteer Application to be considered for coaching.

TEAM MANAGER
New for the Fall 2024 Season, we introduce the role of Team Parent/Team Manager. This volunteer role is specifically to assist the Head Coach with Referee Fees collection and coordination of extra needs for the team. This is necessary role to collection of "Cash on Field" payments for UCYS provided referees.
This is a typical role for all WXW Soccer Club Academy & Classic competitive soccer teams and will now be utilized for our Recreational REC U8-U16 Soccer program as well. We are seeking parent volunteers for this role via this registration, but if there is no one to represent a given team, the parents of that team will be called upon for a volunteer. All 30+ teams now require this volunteer just like a Head Coach. The Team Manager will be responsible to collect the full amount for the season, manage the funds weekly or provide all funds to the Head Coach.
Outside of the Ref Fees, the Team Manager will assist the coach in coordination of anything the team Head Coach may need or want like snacks, drinks, water, pop-up canopies (family provided or WXW provided where applicable), or team events outside of the games. Team Parent/Team Manager will also help coordinate Uniform collection & distribution. They will assist with WCWAA Queen City Tournament funds (Spring Only) should your team choose to participate. Basically, as the Team Parent/Team Manager, we are looking for you to assist your Head Coach. As this is an official WAA volunteer position, this role will be required to complete the standard WAA Coach & Volunteer Application with background check & SafeSport Training.
Union County Youth Soccer
Our REC U8-16 Age Group competes as part of Union County Youth Soccer.
Union County Youth Soccer is a Soccer League in Union County North Carolina. Our goal is to provide a Recreational Soccer League in Union County, North Carolina that provides Soccer Associations in Union County to come together to play in a recreational league. This brings all the associations together and gives the association and players more competation. Our current member associations are:

- Mint Hill Athletic Association (MHAA)
- Piedmont Area Soccer Association (PASA)
- Porter Ridge Athletic Association (PRAA)
